Founded by Nancy Grutschus, Bit-O-Gelato is the evolution of frozen desserts. Our objective is to offer our customers the best tasting, good-for-you dessert that nourishes the body, mind, and soul.

About the Founder

Having previously lived in Italy, Nancy discovered Gelato and fell in love with this decadent frozen dessert. She was pleased that gelato has no butterfat as does it’s American cousin ice-cream.

Later in life, Nancy discovered what was missing in her life- her love of horses. Having rediscovered her passion, she bought a horse named Finn Finn. After 35 years, Nancy started showing again and realized in the hot sun in South Florida, that delicious frozen dessert from her former life in Italy would be the cherry on top.

Nancy found a local Italian gelaterie from Piemonte, Italy and Bit-O-Gelato was born. The answer to an Equestrians desire for a healthier frozen treat, refreshing and rewarding after a days competition, whether in the show ring or in life.

What's the Difference?

Gelato

Gelato is a healthy alternative to ice cream, having less than half the fat. Gelato is also produced out of natural ingredients such as fruits and nuts, where ice cream is limited to a number of ingredients. Gelato is creamier, smoother, silkier, and denser than American ice cream.

Ice Cream

Ice cream contains at least 10% butterfat. Meanwhile, Italian gelato includes much less fat, giving it a more intense flavor. Gelato also contains less air than American ice cream, which allows the flavors to emerge more. Italian gelato is also served 10 to 15 degrees warmer than ice cream, so your mouth is less numb and better able to taste the heavenly flavors more!
